Creating 2006 Events Calendar

In mid-January 2006, we found a good deal in Turkey to publish a 2006 Friends of Anatolia Calendar.

Due to the time constraints, we immediately started to work on the project in Turkey and in the U.S. concurrently.

Gurhan Kalkan of Nomadic Excursions, who is also one of our hardworking volunteers, made the negotiations in Turkey with the publishers and Basak Toker, another devout volunteer, joined him to arrange the transportation of the materials and quality control of the final products. Onur Bozada, one of the new faces in our Turkey team, also worked with them.

At the same time, a team of Ali Sarikaya, Demet Yezgi, and Tugsan Topcuoglu started to work on the content of the calendar. Thanks to the designing skills of Ali, fundraising skills of Demet, and editing and proof read skills of Tugsan, after five days, 30 hours, and many sleepless nights the calendar was ready to be published.

The result was a huge success. Not only we created a major product to advertise our organization, events and activities, we also found supporters to pay for the costs of all pages.

As of February 13, we have started to distribute 5,000 calendars in the Bay Area and 20 states in the U.S.

Sample pages of the calendar can be seen here.
