Dibekduzu Project Update

Updates as of August 12, 2005

Physical repairs are complete and all payments have been made. The final cost of the repairs alone is $9,700, which is $300 less than the original budget.

We are still waiting for the phone lines to be connected, and roads to the village to be improved as promised by the local authorities.

The next big thing for this project is to provide the educational supplies. We are currently seeking as many education items as possible to be donated, and we will purchase the rest in September.

Please see our wish list and let us know if you can help with any.

We are also hoping to arrange an opening ceremony for the new school year in early October.

Below are the latest photos taken on August 1, 2005.

Storage:
A new two-room storage was built in the backyard to store the educational supplies and heating materials.

Water:
A two ton water tank was purchased and installed on top of the new storage building. Pipes were installed to carry water from the well to the tank which distributes to the school.

Heating:
A ton of coal and another ton of wood were purchased and brought to the new storage building.

Restrooms:
Additional sinks were installed in the students restrooms and the teachers quarters.

Roof:
The roof was rebuilt.

Painting:
The school was painted top to bottom.

Schoolyard:
The concrete area for sports and ceremonies and paths to the buildings are completed.
