Dibekduzu Project Execution

Right after our successful fundraising dinner, our President Demet Yezgi went to Turkey. There she met with our advisor Ceylan Orhun, and they travelled to Dibekduzu together.

They visited local authorities, finalized the action plan, and negotiated with contractors for the project budget. As a result of this hard work, the project started on June 6.

Also, Demet has conducted pre-evaluation surveys with teachers and students of Dibekduzu Elementary School.

Estimated Repair Budget (as of June 19, 2005)

The revised repair budget is $9,518, which is subject to further increase. This part of the project is estimated to be completed by the end of June 2005.

Water system & restrooms: $485
Electricity system: $370
Doors & windows: $1,907
Roof: $296
Floor: $1,187

Front and back yard: $1,019
Heating: $660
Contractor fee: $500

ESTIMATED REPAIR BUDGET: $9,518

In addition to these costs, we have received some donations and promises from the local authorities:

With their donations, we have eliminated the costs of some supplies, such as cement, machinery for a water well, and student desks. Moreover, we have promises to improve the worst parts of the road leading to the village and to bring a phone line to the school.
