Demet
YEZGI: Demet has been an active volunteer devoted
to social change since 1999. She is co-founder of the
Istanbul-based TOG Community Volunteers, a nonprofit organization
dedicated to creating social awareness among youth, and has
been a youth coordinator for TEGV Education Volunteers.
Since her move to the Bay Area two years ago, Demet has completed her certificate
in nonprofit management from San Jose State University, is volunteering for the
local Turkish American Community, and is writing articles for various websites
and magazines. She is founder of a small consultancy business, which offers services
to nonprofit organizations. She has worked in the Office of Development
at Stanford University as Assistant Director of Research.
She received her undergraduate
degree in political science and international relations from
Bogazici University, Turkey, and will pursue her masters
degree in Nonprofit Adminstration from University of San Francisco
starting
Fall 2005. She is the founder of Friends of Anatolia. She served
as the President on the Interim Board of Friends of Anatolia
between June 2004 and June
2005.

Yezgi Awarded 2005 Young Nonprofit Professional of the
Year
Our
Founding President, Demet Yezgi, has been selected
as the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) 2005
Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year! A selection committee
of nonprofit leaders from the Bay Area chose Demet as the
best and most qualified person to hold this honor.
YNPN’s mission
is to promote an efficient, viable, and inclusive nonprofit
sector that supports the growth, learning, and development
of young professionals. YNPN honored Demet at the awards
ceremony on October 20th where a representative from Mayor
Gavin Newsom’s office presented the award. |
